A soulful and grounded rendition of the Bill Withers classic Grandma’s Hands. Our grandmothers are the bedrocks of our communities, most of us owe all that we have to our matriarchs. Emma Donovan stirs something in your core with this Al Green, Koko Taylor-esque cover.
Mr Jabbir Jabbir is at it again you mob. Grimey synth and bass, eerie melodies and guitar lines, and a drum groove to make you move. Selve has created a Tron Grid sonic landscape reminiscent of the last album without being repetitive. Crawl slowly onto the dance floor and don’t leave until you get your fix.
Jem Cassar-Daley is sick of the truth being tip-toed around and she’s dropped a new track for you to go for a drive and clear your head. Is Jem our queen of catchy break up songs? Because this one is destined for the radio. A dreamy bed of guitar, keys, bass and drums for you to sing your heart out over.
A dedication to anyone who’s stood in DOBBY’s way, true to style and sonic palate. Vibraphone, piano, bass, drum samples, some phat synths and even a muted trumpet. We’re met with a curious and mysterious intro that catches you immediately before the beat builds into a fleshed out layered production. Confronting and self interrogating lyrics, a raw reflection on self-conditioning.
trials has just dropped whistle while I walk, an anthem for everyone having real problems presenting themselves with nothing left to give. Carefree and skating over the top of all the bullshit. Some happy guitar chords, playful keys lines and an all round vibe reminiscent of 2000’s hip hop.
