CREATIVE DIRECTOR & FOUNDER
Travis is a Gamilaroi and Darug multidisciplinary artist and arts leader.
A key focus of Awesome Black has been the development and promotion of First Nations music through partnerships and projects with SXSW, Amazon Music, Vivid, South Eveleigh the NSW Government’s 24-Hour Economy. Travis continues to amplify First Nations voices, fostering recognition and success on both national and global stages.
His artistic practice, rooted in storytelling, has manifested in solo exhibitions across the UK and Australia, blending various forms such paintings, drawings, projections and experiential sculptures. Musically, Travis is known as Source Decay, crafting intricate soundscapes and ambient compositions using field recordings and electronic samples to create immersive audio experiences.
Travis is also a judge of the 2025 NSW Music Prize, an alumni of NAISDA Dance College where he received the inaugural Chairman’s Award, a former Create NSW Aboriginal Arts Fellow and recipient of the British Council’s ACCELERATE program.

Engagement director
Luke is an arts, not-for-profit and charity leader working across Awesome Black and the Awesome Black Foundation. He is also the Deputy Director & Community Liaison for the Indigenous youth charity Life for Koori Kids (which he stumbled upon as a teen and never left) and the Chairperson for the Music in Exile charity which supports the careers of refugee and migrant musicians.
Luke has worked with some of Australia’s best-known and most respected creative and purpose-based organisations, including Sydney Opera House, the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney Writers’ Festival, Tranby Aboriginal Cooperative, Sydney Festival, Red Room Poetry, Overland, Carriageworks and Creative Australia to name just a few. His work is focused primarily on developing programs, campaigns, partnerships and collaborations that are culturally and socially impactful.
Artistically, Luke has performed, presented and created music works throughout Australia and Europe for the likes of Dark Mofo, the Art Gallery of NSW, Sydney Festival, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and the University of Technology, Sydney. He’s a music curator, presenter on Sydney’s fbi.radio and a 2025 Artist-in-Residence at Bundanon Trust.

SENIOR CREATIVE PRODUCER (MUSIC & EVENTS)
Tristan is a proud Sri Lankan and First Nations descendant from the Walbunga people.
Tristan has worked on major events spanning music, theatre, dance and First Nations programs in staging, production and curation for some of the country’s most recognised arts companies. Also an established musician and performer, Tristan has collaborated on music projects with the University Technology Sydney: Jummbanna Centre, students from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School project, Google Street View at Uluru and has used his musical knowledge to run workshops at UNSW and in communities across Australia. In 2017, Tristan was the first recipient of The David Page Music Fellowship with Bangarra Dance Theatre. He has performed at Sydney Opera House, Queensland Festival, the G20 Summit and Clancestry amongst others, and served as a panelist at the World Music Forum in Brisbane (2013).
Tristan is also the Cultural Producer for the Memory episode of Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, which is streaming on Disney+.

GENERAL MANAGER
Tegan is a seasoned leader in the not-for-profit and small business sectors. Raised in a small business family that has operated a successful, community-focused operation for more than 40 years, Tegan feels at home when working with a team focused on excellence, with integrity and purpose.
Tegan has worked with – and held leadership positions at – some of Australia's powerhouse arts organisations such as Sydney Opera House, Gondwana Choirs, the Australian Haydn Ensemble, Musica Viva, Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Hayllar Music Tours and the Enmore and Factory Theatres. She is known for her ability to create structure and stability within creative projects, enabling artists and creative teams to thrive while she handles the detail behind the scenes.
Also a singer who completed a music degree, Tegan brings this understanding of artists and performance to supporting arts organisations with solid operations that deliver for both artists and audiences.

PRODUCTION COORDINATOR
Jack is a multidisciplinary Gamilaraay musician and event producer from Quirindi, New South Wales.
He is a member of the contemporary First Nations electro-soul trio Bow and Arrow as well as a freelance musician. Jack has performed alongside respected artists including Dyagula, Delta Goodrem, Christine Anu, Akala Newman, Emily Wurramara, Dr. Shellie Morris and Merindi Schrieber. His performance highlights include Parrtjima Festival, Badu Gili at Sydney Opera House, VIVID Sydney, SXSW, Phoenix Central Park, NITV’s 10-Year Anniversary Concert, WOMADelaide, Yabun Festival, Sydney Festival and Meredith Festival to name just a few.
Jack’s work is driven by a love of music and storytelling, bringing connection and energy to every stage he steps on.
