Turn up the volume on the top tracks for NAIDOC week in July 2024.
J-MILLA – “Boomerang”
Leading our NAIDOC Week celebration is J-MILLA with his new single “Boomerang.” This track is a powerful anthem that showcases J-MILLA’s lyrical prowess and dynamic style. “Boomerang” is a testament to cultural pride, making it the perfect headliner for this special edition. J-MILLA’s ability to blend contemporary beats with profound messages ensures this track will resonate deeply with listeners.
3% feat. Jessica Mauboy – “Won’t Stop”
The collaboration between 3% and Jessica Mauboy in “Won’t Stop” is nothing short of spectacular. This track merges the unique styles of Nooky, Dallas Woods, Angus Field, and Jessica Mauboy, resulting in a powerful and uplifting anthem. “Won’t Stop” is a celebration of Blak unity, with Jessica’s soulful voice adding a rich layer of diva flair to the powerful lyrics and beats. From the open bars to the final climax this track pumps.
South Summit – “Ottoway”
South Summit’s “Ottoway” is a superbly captivating follow up to their previous outing Givin It Up from earlier this year that blends introspective lyrics with vibrant melodies. This song takes you on a journey, reflecting the deep connection to place and identity. ISouth Summit’s unique sound and storytelling ability make “Ottoway” a standout track in this month’s playlist, offering a blend of soulful vocals and intricate instrumentals.
From the band “Ottoway is essentially a “utopia”. Looking from the outside in you see the foundations of a city, but the closer you get, the more you realize how imperfect it is and the flaws become clearer. In saying this, it is a place we call home and no one can change that. Ottoway explores the themes of acceptance and pride. standing firm on your beliefs and accepting the cards you’ve been dealt.” – South Summit
Becca Hatch – “Crash”
Becca Hatch brings a new energy with her new single “Crash.” This track moves away from the club beats style tracks to a honey dripping ballad of a track with meaningful, honest lyrics, showcasing Becca’s versatility as an artist. Lyrically, “Crash” is a journey through rejection and an outing that showcases Becca’s storytelling through powerful vocals that shine through. It’s a track that will have you hitting repeat.
Loren Ryan – “Hoedown”
Loren Ryan’s “Hoedown” is another outing that shows a big change from what we’ve seen from an artist. Hoedown is a hugely fun and energetic track that invites listeners to smile with its lyrical playfulness and dance with its upbeat rhythm and catchy hooks.
“Hoedown” is a perfect addition to any party playlist if you don’t mind getting into a tussle. This is a fun fight/ diss track that makes me never want to get on Loren’s bad side… Loren’s vibrant performance and infectious enthusiasm make this track a joyful, playful moment that adds so much to Loren’s chops as a new Blak country force.
Pair this with some Pabst Blue Ribbon – I will be.
